Given the amount of content on this website, it seems appropriate that we now diversify post type and content. It’s time to do an interest piece, and for this special edition, we’re talking about TRAINS. Little bitty trains. And planes. And more!
Apparently, the quotidien of the average Hamburg(er? ian?) is a little lacking in pizzaz, so it’s good that the Udgang had one explicit reason for visiting Germany: MINATUR WUNDERLAND!
Minatur Wunderland is a model railway and miniature airport attraction, located in the historic Speicherstadt neighborhood of Hamburg. Digging around on the website, I found some stats on the world’s largest model transport system:

Our videographer hero of the whole trip, Mr. L, can give you a better sense of the scale of the exhibit, however.

And of course, the magnum opus of Ismael’s coverage:
It’s a full airport with planes that land and take off! Skip to 1:41 to see the first one land. Per Avery, this airport was the best part of the whole exhibit!

A little more walking around was done post-Minatur Wunderland, then some processing in the Airbnb was required.

Though Hamburg was about as short a pitstop for the Udgang as Vienna was for Jordan and Sam, an important lesson can be derived by these side quests. As a mathematical rule, even the middle-of-nowhere Europe is going to be 10x better than middle-of-nowhere Midwest USA. So, a moderate city like Hamburg is still serving major vibes. On to Switzerland!
